Dogs love their owners

They love us: Studies reveal how dogs see their owners

According to the IBGE - Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, Brazil has about 53 million dogs across the country.

In most Brazilian homes, dogs are the most beloved pets treated as part of the family. You will identify yourself: they are playful, funny, loyal and are always asking for attention and biting something and yet it is like a proof of love.

And calling your canine friend a son or considering him a part of the family is more than natural, isn't it? What if it was possible to know what they think about their owners? In fact, it is. Scientists have done studies that reveal how dogs really see their human partners!

Do dogs see us with such love and affection?
Suddenly imagine us barking back when we call to eat or play?

Scientific studies have the answer. Check out:

Smell is the meaning of love!
Emory University in the United States conducted the MRI study on the brains of some dogs and found that they not only love their owners, they see them as their family. Smell is the dog's most important sense and was one of the means to measure this immediate recognition in the brain.

The result: dogs can differentiate between smells and recognize their owner and other familiar animals. They are happy with the scent of the owner even when he is not present and the region in the brain linked to the reward "lights up". And look how much love, they prioritize our scent over any other!

Our ear is not potty!

Another study from Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest showed how the pet brain reacted to sounds from different humans and animals, such as voices, grunts and sighs. Prior to this research, it was not known how noises affected canine brains. Among many surprises, scientists have found that canine and human reactions to emotionally charged voices are very similar.

Happy sounds in particular cause illumination of the cortex area in both species and this is undoubtedly the common communication between humans and their dogs. No wonder animals easily sense our mood swings!

“We don't need neuroimaging to see how communication works (between people and dogs), but without it, we didn't understand why it works. Now we are starting to understand, ”said Atila Andics, the author of the survey on the Mic site.

And for those who have always believed this, research proves that the interaction of dogs with humans is the same as that of babies with their parents. Like children, when they are frightened or worried, they rush to their owners for shelter and protection. Different from other animals like cats and horses.

And see how thrilling: looking into its owner's eyes and looking directly at it is dog-only behavior with humans, which is not the case with its canine biological parents.

“Liaising with their owners is much more important to the dog than any domestic animals,” says Andic.

And the reverse? Have you ever wondered how the human brain reacts to the love of its pets?

Massachusetts General Hospital published a study that measured people's brain activity in response to pictures of dogs and children. Participants were women who had animals and babies at least two years old. The areas of the brain that responded were those related to emotion, reward, social interaction, affiliation, and visual processing. That is, both photos made people very happy.

What is the conclusion?

The fact is, we love our pets and they love us too. And in general, we communicate very well with our canine friends! Whether as babies, children or friends, they really are special and deserve our full attention. Touch the paw here, friend!

Share this story with your friends! The canines too!
